Physical Health: Cervical cancer screening, breast cancer screening, sexual health questions, and assessment.

Mental/Emotional Health: We screen for depression, anxiety, and in some cases, we can manage with medications.

This area also covers a substance use screening where we give non-judgement and down-to-earth support. We can point you in the direction of resources and support. Smoking cessation services are available.

Additionally, we screen for domestic violence and intimate partner violence. This is another area where we can point you to resources and support with your safety and health in mind.

Other components of this type of visit can include:

  • Reproductive Life Planning: How to support you in planning or not planning a pregnancy
  • Immunization Status: Hep A, Hep B, HPV/Gardasil, Flu. Recommending vaccines if indicated.

Sometimes, a wellness visit might include a physical exam based on your needs, risks, medical history, and your consent! We do not perform routine pelvic exams without a confirmed reason. The decision to do a pelvic exam is a shared conversation based on risks, symptoms, needs, and other factors. You always have the right to decline a pelvic exam, no matter who your provider is.

An exam may include: listening to the heart & lungs, assessing the size of your thyroid (from your neck), a breast exam, an abdominal exam, lymphatic exam, pelvic exam, or others, based on your needs.
